Sorry, Gretchen Carlson haters, but she’s not going anywhere, not as long as the show’s ratings stay high and even beat the network morning shows in some markets.

As nice as it was to see Juliet Huddy subbing in yesterday, we doubt there is a permanent place for her in the F&F universe. As one of the few sane people on the Carpe Diem thread pointed out, Gretchen has a new contract (to go along with the show’s solidly high ratings). Also, unless the suits are displeased with Alisyn Camerota, why would they bump her in favor of Juliet? That would leave Aly as the loser in a game of musical chairs, and we don’t see that happening, given her popularity and that she doesn’t make big gaffes.

We also don’t see Juliet being a permanent back-up, waiting around doing nothing while waiting for Gretchen or Aly to go on vacation or be ill.

Juliet’s guest host turn could be nothing more than the same thing as Megan Henderson’s two turns at subbing in the center seat on the weekend F&F show.

We could be wrong, but we doubt Juliet will be added to the F&F universe, unless the suits want to dump one of the weekend dudes and morph that show into “The View.”

In any event, if Juliet does return to F&F in some capacity, that would almost certainly push Ainsley Earhardt even further down the ladder in the F&F universe, blocking the triumphant return to the center seat that only Stalky and the other shut-ins on Reporter Caps envision. Speaking of Ainsley, we’re still laughing ourselves silly at Stalky’s insistence that he somehow knows that she’s a moral woman. Just because someone claims to be religious and “moral” doesn’t necessarily make one so. And being a Bible-thumper doesn’t make one a good person either.

The majority of Gretchen bashers are still bitter because GC was chosen over Kiran Chetry to replace ED at F&F.
Kiran fled to CNN after FNC refused her contract demands.
Gretchen’s husband (Casey Close) is a high powered agent, his clients include Derek Jeter (Yankees) and Ryan Howard (Phillies).
Suffice to say Gretchen’s contract with FNC is iron clad with plenty of perks.
Despite her unpopularity with bloggers, she is THE star of F&F and #1 in the ratings and that means ad revenue.
So long as she continues to pull huge ratings she will occupy the coveted “center seat” on F&F.
Sorry drones, but “Her Royal Thighness” is the Queen Bee in the Fox hive.

  2. You nailed it, Hobson. We’ll just add that the Ainsley fans believe that Gretchen is the only thing standing between their peroxide princess and morning show stardom.

While Gretchen is a totally different personality than E.D. (and it took us a while to warm up to Gretchen in the center seat), she is a good fit with Steve and Brian, much more so than any other we’ve seen subbing in that middle spot. We always got the impression that Kiran thinks she’s better than everyone else, and that there was a certain animosity between her and Brian.

As for the Kiran fans, it’s not like they can’t see her every day of the week. All they have to do is go to CNN every weekday morning and there she is.
